March 06, 2015

Xiaomi expects sales to go beyond 100 billion yuan (US$16 billion; US$1=6.2646) this year, around 35% year-on-year growth against 74.3 billion RMB in 2014, reported the Wall Street Journal on March 5. In particular, the company aims to sell 80 million to 100 million smartphones in 2015, up from around 61 million last year. India and other emerging markets, such as Russia and Brazil, will continue to play a key role in Xiaomi's overseas expansion. Xiaomi said that it has no immediate plans to sell smartphones in developed markets, but will begin sales of accessories online in the United States this year.
